Canadian Working Holiday Programme

Spend an absolutely amazing vacation working in Canada and truly “experience” the people, the unique beauty and the adrenaline rush that you can only get from this country. Participants in this program meet locals, gain international work experience, earn money to travel and make the most of their working holiday in Canada with us.

Whether you are planning to be a ski bum, a city slicker, or an outdoor traveler... let us help you get a running start to your new adventure. 

  • You will be provided with emergency support (so you parents won’t have to lie awake at night worrying about you)
  • You will be provided with assistance for a full year. Think of having a tour guide/program advisor at your disposal! (“When do I need to file my taxes? Where is the best place to eat sushi? How do I buy a car here?")
  • You will get a JOB FAST- you are given one year member access to our HOT JOBS LIST and personal job assistance from friendly and experienced staff members
  • Connect with people – you will meet like-minded travelers in your orientation group and you may end up meeting your future roommate/or new best friend!

Length of stay is maximum one year for most countries. Average Salary: Most jobs pay around CAN$ 8 to CAN$ 12 per hour, and many service jobs include tips/gratuity on top of salary.

Participants find their job after their arrival in Canada with LOTS of help from our Canadian partner. You will receive advice and assistance from a Program Adviser in writing your resume, learning to interview and sourcing and obtaining job opportunities. You will also have one year access to Canadian partner’s “Hot Jobs List” which is the in-house online listing of jobs carefully selected by knowledgeable staff from numerous online job boards and employer websites. 

Program Includes:
  • One night dorm style accommodation at a downtown youth hostel with continental breakfast and one hour free internet included
  • Full Orientation session at our Canadian partner’s International offices in Vancouver, covering resources available and everything you need to know about working and living in Canada
  • Walking Tour of Downtown Vancouver
  • Processing of your personal Social Insurance Number
  • Advice and assistance from our Canadian partner’s Program Coordinator to help you find a job and to introduce you to employment opportunities
  • Free Weekly Resume Writing, Job Hunt, and Interview Practice Workshops
  • Internet, printing and fax access (at special rates) at any of our Canadian partner’s offices
  • Mail holding service, so you have a contact address as soon as you arrive
  • Free call number for general questions or emergencies during office hours
  • Free luggage storage at youth hostel
  • One year’s membership in our Canadian partner’s International Club, which gives members access to discounts on services, tours and attractions
  • Social activities ranging from pub nights to ski trips in Vancouver
  • Brochures and maps to familiarize participants with the local scene
  • Handbook called The Essential Guide to Working and Living in Canada

Minimum Age: 19 The duration depends on Visa Conditions, usually maximum 12 months from date of entry to Canada

Location: Vancouver for orientation, across Canada for work

Visa Required: Work Permit obtained under the Working Holiday Category of the International Experience Canada Initiative

To be eligible for the Working Holiday Visa, you must:

  • Be between the ages of 18 and 30 inclusive on the date the application is received (to note - some countries have an age limit of 35)
  • Be a citizen of and resident in one of the many countries that has signed to a working holiday agreement with Canada: Argentina*, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil*, Costa Rica, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Republic of Korea, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand*, Ukraine, and United Kingdom.
  • To note – our Canadian partner has a special agreement regarding visas with these countries.
  • Hold a valid passport
  • Possess sufficient funds to cover expenses in Canada for the first 3 months of the stay (CAN$ 3,000 )
  • Have comprehensive insurance coverage (health care/hospitalization/repatriation) valid for the duration of the stay. Proof of this insurance coverage must be presented to Immigration officials upon arrival in Canada.
