Tamwood International has successfully registered with the British Columbia government a new career college based in Vancouver that will provide vocational training to international students who want to develop work readiness skills. In August 2014, Tamwood Careers will open its doors with a coop education program called "Communication for the International Workplace". 

Students in this program will be allowed to work part-time from day one of the course, which means they can finance their stay while studying as well as work full time during their practicum term. As a result of Canadian immigration law changes that took effect June 1, 2014, students studying full time in a vocational training program at a designated institution for 6 months or more will be given permission on their study permit to work part time (20 hours per week) while studying and full time during scheduled school breaks. This new work permission means college students can earn money to support themselves during their studies. Students at designated vocational colleges can also obtain for a work permit to do a coop education program.

Quick Facts regarding a new Work and Study Program: 

• 48 week program: 24 weeks study term* plus 24 week coop term (* students can work part-time during entire program in addition to coop placement) 
• Study Term includes course content on Canadian Culture and the workplace, travel, tourism, hospitality, customer service, sales and marketing... 
• Pre-requisite: Low Intermediate English (CEFR B1, IELTS 4-4.5, Tamwood Level 4) 
• Start Dates: Every Month 

Over the next 12 months, Tamwood Careers will launch several programs including coop education programs in business skills, communication skills and customer service skills. These programs are designed to give international students the key to the vocational skills they need to be work ready for their chosen career in their home country or in Canada.
