The bright modern campus is an easy walk to both the main bus station and the lake. Our quaint campus means you will be greeted with a warm smile every morning and a feeling of ‘family’ everyday. With big city comforts and small town charm, Kelowna provides all the amenities of big city life, one-of-a-kind shops, entertainment, festival and vibrant culture. Nestled between Okanagan Lake and rolling mountain ranges, it provides year round outdoor (entertainment) fun, local farms, orchards and vineyards thrive within a 10-minute drive of the downtown core. They provide fresh summer produce and delicious winter wines. You can even pick your own fruit in season. Biking and hiking opportunities are abundant in the spring and fall. The beach, of course, is the biggest draw in the summer – swim, boat, jet-ski, or just sun bathe on the many beaches. Learning English in Vancouver means more than coming to class every day. A large part of your experience will be after school hours when you will meet new friends and enjoy all that Vancouver and Kelowna have to offer. VanWest College organizes a variety of activities to suit people of all nationalities and interests. VanWest College activities are educational, cultural, entertaining and athletic. A number of our activities are also travel and work related. Our activities include hockey games, pub nights, festivals, concerts, hiking, biking, cultural days, yoga, restaurants, skating, skiing, movie nights, football games, beach parties and free conversation clubs. Remember, English Only is still the policy during all VanWest activities!

VanWest offers activities everyday, after class. These activities are designed to help you explore Vancouver and Kelowna, whilst making new friends and practicing English! Students are highly encouraged to attend the activities, as it is a great way to enjoy your stay with VanWest!

VanWest also offers trips and excursions during the weekend. This is a great way for students to travel and see the surrounding cities and wildlife of Vancouver and Kelowna. Students will get to experience cultural activities to challenging outdoor fun! VanWest has once-a-month signature activity that students enjoy. English (15 hrs/week Core English, 25 hrs/week Intensive English, 29hrs/week Optimum English)

Theme-based lessons in everyday contexts

Students learn English skills within an easy to understand framework - lessons are based on themes suitable for each level and pathway. Language essentials are taught within the context of the subject matter, so students can apply their new skills with great effect. Focusing on the four skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening), students practice conversation skills along with sharpening grammar, vocabulary, idioms and pronunciation.

IELTS, Cambridge, FCE and CEA preparation courses

University Pathway

VanWest University Pathway program is a comprehensive, intensive program designed to provide entrance to Canadian Universities without meeting external examination requirements. The students can complete either a Bachelor's, Pre-Master program or a certificate program at VanWest's partner institutions.

Language Co-op Study & Work Program

VanWest English Work & Study Program provides an exceptional opportunity for international students to combine Business English (BULATS) in the classroom with work experience in the Canadian work environment. The paid or unpaid cooperative English Language internship Program allows students to apply their overall English communication skills into “real-life” workplace situations with native Canadian English speakers. This opportunity enhances a student’s language abilities and expands their career options. This program consists of 50% academic studies and 50% paid or unpaid internship.
